A visit to Todos Santos is not complete without trying local taco stands or taquerias and sampling this delicious and affordable Mexican ‘fast’ food. We have included smaller restaurants, fast food places and sidewalk cafes in this taqueria list.

Each taco stand (taqueria) has its own particular schedule. Day stands usually open early in the morning and close around four p.m. Yes, we eat tacos for breakfast! Evening taco stands do not get going until six p.m. or so, and stay open late, some past midnight. Larger stands will usually offer more varieties of tacos and salsas but a most are known for one or two types of tacos and that is all they serve. You’ll generally be offered a choice of corn or flour tortillas and some stands make their own tortillas from scratch. There’s nothing better than a warm chewey tortilla made fresh right in front of you.

The corn tortilla has been around long before the conquest of Mexico. Called a taco when filled and folded in two, it formed an important part of the daily diet of both kings and workers in Pre-Hispanic Mexico.

Cafelix Coffee Shop
A cool little spot on the main street for coffees and light snacks. They also have wireless internet service. Calle Juarez between Hidalgo and Manuel Marquez de Leon, Todos Santos. Open daily from 7am until 10pm and Sunday from 9am until 10pm.

Carnitas Barajas - Tacos and Carnitas
Carnitas y chicharrones, fish and shrimp tacos, carne asada tacos, papas rellenos (stuffed potatoes), great salsas and clean location. Since 1995. Calle Degollado and Cuauhtémoc, Todos Santos. Daily 8 am to 11 pm. Closed Tuesdays.

Restaurante El Zaguán

Loncheria Karla
Simple Mexican breakfasts and fresh juices. Calle Militar across from the park. Opens at 6:30 a.m. for breakfast and lunch.

Mariscos Rickles
Seafood Cocktails, Coctel de Mariscos, Ceviche, Scallops and Clams. Calle Militar, between Morelos & Zaragoza, Todos Santos. Open daily.

Neveria Rocco
Ice Cream Parlor - They carry American and Mexican ice creams and ice cream bars. They also have a small menu offering hamburgers, sandwiches, burritos, fruit, yoghurt and pies. Located on Calle Hidalgo between Calle Juarez and Calle Centenario.

Super Pollo
Roasted Chicken, Hamburgers, Carne Asada and Turkey Burgers. Daily specials. Avenida Santo Degollado between Calle Olachea and Calle Pedrajo, Todos Santos. Phone: (612) 145-0078.

Tacos Chilako's
Tender meat tacos at a reasonable prices. Saturday and Sunday - papas rellenas too. Calle Juárez and Hidalgo, Todos Santos, BCS. Open Monday through Saturday from 9am until 9pm.

Taqueria Tres Hermanos
A very simple little taco stand in the center of town. They serve fish and shrimp tacos and they are good. Manuel Marquez de Leon between Juarez and Colegio Militar. Open most days for lunch.
