about

Cal y Canto is a building term that technically means calcium and stone or bricks and mortar. However, canto also means song and the expression has taken on a secondary meaning in the Spanish language as perhaps has been best captured in a book of poetry under the name “Cal Y Canto” by Rafael Alberti. Playing off the secondary meaning associated with the expression, Alberti used colors and texture to evoke strong feelings. The phrase has come to symbolize “Form and Passion” as has the project to all of its founders. For more information about Alberti, click here

Tasteful in every detail and appointed with modern amenities, CalyCanto Casitas presents you with the opportunity to rent one of three fully furnished homes in a lavish boutique resort community, located on five gently sloping acres of desert terrain, 700 yards above the Pacific Ocean. The property is 2.5 miles from the town of Todos Santos, offering magnificent ocean views and generous terraces. All in a spacious, yet intimate, setting.

Embodying the architectural heritage of Mexico, rustic design seamlessly blends with modern conveniences to stimulate the senses. Expansive and richly appointed, each casita offers an indoor-outdoor flow, with colorfully painted designs and finishes, decorative wrought-iron, and antique mesquite furniture painstakingly handcrafted by Mexican artisans.

Walk barefoot on Saltillo floors. Enjoy breakfast on colorfully hand painted Talavera tiles. Siesta in a hand-woven hammock for two as gentle shadows from the Palapa roof drift across the room and the ocean breeze blows gently across the terrace. Take an outdoor shower while watching the silhouette of Royal Palms and native catcti dot the sunset.

These lavish accommodations offer the perfect rooftop vantage point to contemplate the moon’s reflection over the migrating whales in the deep blue waters of the Pacific. From the master bedroom or your private terrace, gaze upon a pristine, white sand beach, or simply enjoy a refreshing siesta in one of the shaded hammocks under a Palapa. Or, if you prefer, enjoy a moonlit dinner on your private terrace before you sneak inside to the comfort of 500 thread count sheets.

While some guests choose to never leave the premises, others prefer to participate in limitless adventure and exploration. Look out your window to watch the annual migration of the Humpback and Gray Whales or check the surf. Witness pottery being first hand, with the same process used for centuries in the nearby Sierra de la Laguna mountain range. Take a Yoga or a Spanish class in the timeless town center. Savor some of the best restaurants in Baja. Relax to a custom compilation of music in your own sensuously elegant and comfortably spacious private palapa.

CalyCanto Casitas are not about high-speed internet or cable television (although modern conveniences are certainly available). What we offer is an escape to simplicity, a path to tranquility, a destination where time stands still. Where you can be lulled to rest by the rhythm of waves in the distance or simply lean back and look toward the heavens to gaze at the shimmering stars. Where you can share and build memories. Where you can find yourself.

Casita del Pescado is aptly named after the subtle details of local fish, represented on Talevera tile and elsewhere throughout. It offers a similar open layout as the Casita de la Tortuga, with 2BRs, 2BA (with one indoor/outdoor shower) a kitchen and a pullout couch. The only noticeable difference is that the lower bedroom has two twin beds instead of a queen. More details can be found by clicking below.

del Pescado

Casita del Sol is aptly named after the subtle details of the light that makes Todos shine, represented on Talevera tile and elsewhere throughout. As opposed to the Casita de la Tortuga and Casita del Pescado, the Casita del Sol is an upper unit with its own private entry (above the property managers) with 1BRs, 1BA (with an indoor/outdoor shower). It has no kitchen at this time. More details can be found by clicking below.

Welcome to the website for CalyCanto, offering Todos Santos vacation rentals and information about the area. We operate a boutique community, currently consisting of 3 casitas in Todos Santos, each with ocean views, about 2.5 miles from the town center, on the way La Pastura, a world class surf break. We at CalyCanto are passionate about eco-friendly travel that provides us with succulent surfing, pristine beach combing, intimate restaurants, exotic bird watching, super special sunsets, horseback riding on the beach, local tours and activities that support the local community. We believe in causing the least harm (approaching zero) while doing business. Environmentalism, sustainability and a commitment to protecting the natural environment through activism are part of our mission as we work to continually reduce our carbon footprint. We hope you'll follow our adventure here, on Twitter and on Facebook while you enjoy your coffee (or tea) or drink a Pacifico (if you've already made it here). If the tequila gets passed around the table too much, gringos might try and spell CalyCanto like calicanto, calecanto, or cal y canto. However you spell it, you are always welcome at Calycanto Casitas. Thank you for visiting.
